Start a business using the lean startup method

Many people have a dream to start their own business. Maybe you have a brilliant idea, or simply find startups interesting. Whatever your dreams are and however far you are in the process, there is always smart to have some good guidelines. Starting your own business can be a long, hard, and messy process, there is no denying that. However, the process can be made less painful with the right tools.

The lean startup is a method created by Eric Ries, with the goal to start a company in the best, fastest and most cost-efficient way. It forces you as an entrepreneur to test the product before it is fully finished to learn from your mistakes as early as possible.

Look To Other Companies

Your startup should be you and what you are passionate about. Yes, it must have a purpose and fill the needs for a customer segment, but it is important that your vision shines through. If you are lost in the process, you can always look to other, existing companies in the same field. Let´s say you want to make a website dedicated to sports betting, then you can for example visit florida bets, to see what they do right and what features you as a consumer appreciate.

Build, measure, learn

The “build, measure, learn” principle, is a great tool for all startups with new business ideas, or when designing a new product for an existing company. The purpose of this process is to build a product fast, test it on the user, and learn from the feedback. This has proven to be the best way to create, because there is minimal time and resources lost. When you create your own company or a new product, your focus will be on making the best possible version of it. You don’t want anyone to see an unfished and unpolished product, after all, this is the only thing you have talked about the last months.

However, it is important to let go of the thought that everything must be perfect before it is exposed to the user. It will most likely receive some negative feedback, leading to changes in design, or user-friendliness. It is best to measure this early, an learn from your mistake before the product is up for sale.

Find early adapters

To test out your product, you can use early adapters. This is often young people who are eager to test, learn and explore new products. People like this will not care if the design is not fully finished, or your webpage is perfected down to the smallest detail. The important part is for them to test the product, tell you what they like, and don’t like, so that you can make the changes necessary.

Starting a business for your own is nerve wrecking and exciting all at the same time. It will never be easy, but there are some tools that can help you on the way to a successful and established business.
